MICRONEEDLING AND DERMAPEN
Micro-needling involves the use Derma roller or Derma Pen a simple instrument which induces collagen production and reduces acne scars, chicken pox scars, fine wrinkles, and stretch marks. Derma roller is applied to the surface of the skin, which makes minute holes in the skin. Damaging the skin induces collagen and elastin production during the healing process, thus resulting in new, plump, youthful skin. The size of the needles in the Derma roller or the Derma Pen varies from 0.1- 2.5mm. Using Vitamin C serum and peptide serums before and after the procedure can enhance collagen production and give quick results.
The results are visible within 4-8 weeks. Derma roller requires regular sittings, 2-5 treatments at regular intervals, usually monthly once. The number of treatments depends on the skin conditions.
Mild discomfort and pain during derma roller or Derma Pen treatment are common. This can be minimised by the application of topical anaesthesia before the procedure.
Skin can appear red, itchy and swollen after application, which usually subsides within 12-24 hours. Any dryness on the skin will eventually heal. The use of sunscreen and moisturisers is recommended as maintenance therapy along with other activities.
